5  Things I Love About Photography

  • I love that it makes me feel like an artist.
  • I love that I capture that moment, time can never give us back.
  • I love the satisfaction and joy I feel in my heart when a shot turns out just as I’d planned it.
  • I love that the special light that we all chase, can make something ordinary look kinda magical.
  • I love that when I leave my house with my camera, I may come back with something completely  new !

Cape Town: Heart Of The Gutter

The heart of Cape Town is a tarnished paradise, offering its city folk the apex of culture, wisdom and the aesthetic and tragedy that come with structural decay. Armed with only a camera and inquisitive minds, we set out for a short period to catch a slight glimpse of the city, a place showcasing the coming together of a people still drowning in one of the world’s greatest class struggles.

Amidst a brewing storm and the force of dusty winds, the Cape still managed to teem with life. Encounters with diverse cultures, ranging from an African couple celebrating their heritage through their apparel, alienated youth in a Gothic clothing store, a stall merchant passionately sharing knowledge of his hometown in Northern Africa, a strange tattoo artist to an enthusiastic monk whose drum and charismatic persona soothed the reality of the poverty the town’s overarching skyscrapers did so well to hide.

Cape Town is a city of many faces; being able to distinguish between the beauty and extremities that has been merged into this commune is a lovely challenge to any artist. Overall, Cape Town and its neighboring suburbs lay a fantastic foundation for all creative seeds to be spawned within the hearts of today’s artistic youth.
